The tradition continues the first weekend in June, the Pennsylvania Association of Beagle Clubs holds its annual Championship. This year Spring Church Beagle Club was the host club and had the facilities in top shape with an outstanding crop of rabbits. This year's judges were Bill Lichtenfels and R.Sean Spaniel who did an outstanding job evaluating the hounds. On Saturday 33 females went to the field and showed their talent. After the dust settled, eight were called back as follows. 1st brace Dix River Darla to run with Barren Run Eva June 2nd brace Twin Eagle Show Girl and Barren Run Eva Pearl, 3rd brace Barren Run Eva May with Spece's Sorrowful Riley, 4th brace BK Royal Line Greda and Amity Hill Dot. When the second series was the complete, the two oldest females (Greda & Dot) in trial were moved to the top. Dot and Darla ran a solid bunny in 3rd series and ended the trial. Greda became a
back-to-back PA Champion. Congratulations to Bonnie and Ken Dworek
The annual PA meeting was held and welcomed Lanco Beagle Club into the Association. After the meeting a fantastic (free) steak dinner was served by the members of Spring Church Beagle Club.
On Sunday we went to the field with 36 males for competition. With a light mist falling the males did their thing for the judges. After completion of first series, eight were brought back for another look as follows. 1st brace Twin Eagle Yeti & Brushy Fork Lawbreaker, 2nd brace Brushwood Usher & Twin Eagle Billy Ray, 3rd brace Twin Eagle King Jumanji & Playtime Rabble Rouser, 4th brace Park Creek Matt Dillon & K-Mac Darby. The high brace went out and laid down a solid run. Second brace switched position and held in there. 3rd brace was dropped, and the 4th brace moved up. Twin Eagle Yeti is the 2024 male champion. Congratulations to owners Randy McClellan and Preston Greenwalt.
In total just shy of $4000.00 was paid out to the 5 places in each class. Many thanks to Coraopolis and New Eagle Beagle Clubs for their contributions.
Hope to see everyone next year.
